Saint Francis Catholic Charismatic Mission Church is a mission church of the Catholic Charismatic Church. Our Patriarch is Archbishop The Most Reverend John P. Walzer, D.D.
We will be having Sunday Mass in our home chapel. It is a very small chapel that is still being worked on. The main ministry of St. Francis Mission is to those in need of counsel and Sacramental reconciliation. We are a Bible based church that is Apostolic and Catholic.
WE ARE A VERY WELCOMING CHURCH BUT WE FIRMLY BELIEVE IN THE SACRED TRADITIONS OF HOLY MOTHER CHURCH. WE BELIEVE THAT THE HOMOSEXUAL LIFFESTYLE IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH THE TEACHINGS OF THE ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. WOMEN'S ORDINATION LIKEWISE IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH THE SACRED TRADITIONS OF HOLY MOTHER CHURCH,
Of particular concern to us is the offering of valid sacraments to those who have left Catholicism, or other Christians seeking forms of worship and beliefs founded in the traditions and beliefs of the Era of the Council of Trent.
We are faithful to the Apostolic traditions and believe in the 7 Holy Sacraments, i.e., Baptism, Penance, Eucharist, Matrimony, Holy Orders, Confirmation[Chrismation] and Holy Unction. We believe in the three traditional Creeds of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church those are the Apostle's Creed, The Nicene Creed and the Anthanasian Creed. On our Beliefs page there is a little more detail, you are encouraged to check them out.
WE ARE NOT ROMAN CATHOLICS, we are Old Catholics and our orgin is from the Apostolic lineages of Europe. We do honor the Bishop of Rome, the Patriarchs from the Eastern traditions and the legitimate leaders of other Christian denominations, e.g., the Bishops of the Anglican fold, etc. But ultimately our Help is in The Lord who made Heaven and Earth!
On the West Coast most folks are not terribly familiar with the Old Catholic Churches and when the word Catholic is used people tend to assume Roman Catholic but there are several Catholics out there that are not under the Papacy. Many of these churches are very far to the left and in some cases they look like well dressed episcopalians with like theology!
What does the Papacy say about Old Catholics, in the legalist tradition of mother Rome our Orders are valid but illicit and we are considered "separated brethren" it is the opinion of the rector of St. Francis that we did not separate from Rome but that Rome has separated from the 'Old Catholic" traditions of councilliar type ecclesiology and elected to declare Papal Infallibility. So in essence Rome declared that it is either them or the highway and so we choose the "Highway". The dogma of Papal Infallibility will continue to be a thorn in true ecumenism in that if Rome persists in this error Christendom will continue to suffer splintering and unity will only be gestures that are empty at best and deceptive in essence.
If you have been abused by the exclusionary and sometimes outright non-sense of your denomination please call us! Our bishops, priests and deacons are not paid and we minister out of love for our Lord. Most of our clerics work secular jobs and work out of Love for the Gospel and the Love of Christ. We have no fancy cathedrals, our Cathedrals are within our hearts and minds. We love Jesus and understand that it is our duty to serve is a calling not a job.
Our ministries include parish life, hospice chaplaincy, prison chaplaincy and hope to start several other corporal works of mercy as we grow!
